Italian Recipes

I’m writing some Italian recipes, but I found some troubles translating them, firstable because our metrical system is different from the American/English and second because I don’t know if people who read these posts could understand what I’m talking about, ’cause we have a lot of ingredients that foreigners have never seen or heard before. So, the next time I will write, I will follow a “step by step” format in order to take pictures of my dishes and of Italian ingredients during the different stages. I don’t think that American/English people know what savoiardi are! But I’m going to teach you all about the ingredients we use in our kitchen. First of all through pictures!

I’m sorry that my English is a little bit bad, I’m going to improve it also by writing about food!

Pasta all’Amatriciana

This is a kind of pasta that my bf and I really like to eat! It’s very easy to prepare! So hurry up and try! Bucatini all’Amatriciana

Ingredients for 4 persons:

  • 1 pound of spaghetti or bucatini
  • 1 can of Italian tomato pulp (400 g about 15 ounces)
  • 3-4 tablespoon of extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 onion
  • 3-4 ounces of thickly sliced pancetta (= bacon), finely diced
  • crushed or powdered red pepper
  • salt
  • some basil leaves
  • pecorino/parmigiano

Tiramisù English Version

tiramisu.jpgFirtstable, I’m not English and my English is not good, ’cause I forgot a lot of words not speaking it every day. But I’m trying to translate my recipes in order to allow foreigner people to cook Italian dishes!

It’s a little bit hard to convert from grams to American measures, because in USA they use “cups” and 1 cup of milk is 240ml but 1 cup of butter is different, because its weight is not the same as milk! Anyway, I’m trying so, American people, if you are reading my recipes and there are mistakes, please tell me!

Tiramisu is a very famous Italian dessert, sometimes my bf asks me to make it for him, and in 2 days he eats it all…. I don’t like this dessert….but for my bf mine is the best in the world!

Troccoli della scoglieraIngredienti (per 4 persone):

  • 500 g di troccoli o pasta lunga fresca (di semola, senza uovo);
  • 1/2 kg di cozze decongelate o fresche;
  • 250 g di anelli di calamaro;
  • 100 g di vongole sgusciate surgelate;
  • 8-10 code di gambero;
  • 200 g di moscardini;
  • una decina di pomodori ciliegino;
  • 3 cucchiai di olio extra vergine d’oliva;
  • prezzemolo tritato;
  • sale q.b.;
  • peperoncino q.b.;
  • 1/2 bicchiere di vino;
  • 2 spicchi d’aglio in camicia;
