Pasta all’Amatriciana

This is a kind of pasta that my bf and I really like to eat! It’s very easy to prepare! So hurry up and try! Bucatini all’Amatriciana

Ingredients for 4 persons:

  • 1 pound of spaghetti or bucatini
  • 1 can of Italian tomato pulp (400 g about 15 ounces)
  • 3-4 tablespoon of extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 onion
  • 3-4 ounces of thickly sliced pancetta (= bacon), finely diced
  • crushed or powdered red pepper
  • salt
  • some basil leaves
  • pecorino/parmigiano

Chop the onion and, in a saucepan, heat the olive oil and put the onion. When the onion gets golden, add the diced pancetta and cook it for 2-3 min, until the bacon become browned. After that add all the tomato pulp and adjust with salt and red pepper. Cook the sauce, mixing well, for about 15 min capped. Meanwhile put the water for the pasta into a large pot. When the water is boiling add a handful of salt and “buttate la pasta”, which is put the pasta into the pot. Cook pasta for the time shown on the package, it is better to taste it, because the cooking time is not very precise. When pasta is ready, bolt it down and turn it over the sauce, mix well and complete the dish with some leaves of basil. Serve pasta to your guests and if you want you can also complete the dish “grating” some parmigiano or pecorino on your pasta! That is greedy!

Buon Appetito!
